| As a teenager
I always had a keen interest in sport and physical fitness, after years
of training with weights and cardiovascular based activities I saw an advert
in a local newspaper for TAE KWON DO the Korean Art of Self Defence held at a local venue. These classes were run by Mr Anthony Mawbey then a 3rd Degree Black Belt. After observing a class in progress I was impressed by the level of discipline and high standards shown by Mr Mawbey and his students. I attended the class over the next two months and was hooked and soon after I was training in three and sometimes even four classes a week in South and West Yorkshire. Shortly after I was selected for my first grading which I successfully achieved, examined by twice world Taekwondo champion Mr Kim Stones. |
| I
continued to train with Mr Mawbey climbing the coloured Belt ladder along
with having some success
in sparring tournaments. Towards
the end of 1999 I followed Mr Mawbey as he formed his own organisation
the North of England schools of Taekwondo which has grown over the years
and I am proud to be associated with.
