As a teenager I always had a keen interest in sport and physical fitness, after years of training with weights and cardiovascular based activities I saw an advert in a local newspaper for
TAE KWON DO the Korean Art of Self Defence held at a local venue.
These classes were run by Mr Anthony Mawbey then a 3rd Degree Black Belt.
After observing a class in progress I was impressed by the level of discipline and high standards shown by Mr Mawbey and his students.
I attended the class over the next two months and was hooked and soon after I was training in three and sometimes even four classes a week in South and West Yorkshire.
Shortly after I was selected for my first grading which I successfully achieved, examined by twice world Taekwondo champion Mr Kim Stones.

I continued to train with Mr Mawbey climbing the coloured Belt ladder along with having some success in sparring tournaments.
In 1998 I attended A.I.M.A.A. {Action international martial arts association} North of England squad training meetings.Click here for photos
During my time with the A.I.M.A.A. squad I was selected to represent the team and competed in tournaments in England Ireland and Germany, while training with the squad I realised how important the physical conditioning side of combat sport was with this in mind I enrolled in a local amateur boxing gym to enhance my physical condition.
In November 1998 I successfully achieved 1st Degree Black examined by Mr Tony Mawbey and a panel of senior examiners.
At the start of February 1999 I opened my 1st Taekwondo school in Kimberworth Rotherham and then in March the same year I attended the grand opening of Master Hee IL Cho’s Taekwondo centre in Albuquerque New Mexico U.S.A. and took part in the Taekwondo demonstrations.

Towards the end of 1999 I followed Mr Mawbey as he formed his own organisation the North of England schools of Taekwondo which has grown over the years and I am proud to be associated with.
In early 2000 I opened my 2nd Taekwondo school in Chapeltown Sheffield, still having an interest in boxing I began to train with professional boxing coaches at the Don Valley Sheffield, who’s innovative training methods help me to prepare for my 2nd Degree Black Belt which I successfully accomplished in November of that year.
I still train in boxing with and incorporate boxing skills in my classes as self defence.
I continued to training with Mr Mawbey over the next three years while building my schools and enjoying the success of my students and in November 2003 i graded to 3rd Degree Black Belt, and from that day to the present I have concentrated on developing my schools and students as well as my own professional development.
